Brief description of impact/history:
Bulong is an abandoned nickel mine which was forfeited in 2013 after the owners were put into administration in 2005. The biggest legacy left by the mine is it’s failed tailings facility which is causing heavy pollution to the
surrounding environment years. According to parliamentary questions the rehabilitation liability estimate for the tailings storage facility is $6,854,280.
